Abs Nickel Plating can be achieved via 2 methods - "electrolytic" and "electro-less". Nickel plating plays a major role in surface finishing for decorative purposes. Nickel provides the 'substance' of the coating as it predominantly provides the hardness and corrosion resistance to the surface. Though sometimes used as a 'final finish' it is more common for nickel to be applied as the "undercoat" beneath final finishes such as silver, gold or chrome. The nickel solution type used in the finishing process determines the level of brightness of the finished product. Some nickel solutions result in a matt or 'satin' finish.
Decorative plating on plastic is achieved by a metallising process specifically engineered to enable non–conductive plastic articles to be electroplated. Plating of ABS plastics components is quite common in the manufacture of modern goods and fittings. Other types of plastics (and even other non metals) can also be plated in a customised approach we offer our custom and restoration markets.
you can now get your plastic parts treated in chrome like colours. Our colour finishing incorporates plating so it is more durable and robust than just spray finishing. So if you'd prefer your plastic dashboard to be finished in a colour but still have the depth and lustre of a chrome finish
Chrome is short for Chromium, a type of metal. Chrome plating is a very popular finish for many decorative applications, especially for the automotive and building industries in which there are many decorative trims and components. It also has industrial uses where, in conjunction with heat treated base materials it can provide a harder finish (hard-chrome).
